Observation through a Window
Media: Acrylic Paint on Canvas.
Painted all from life.
2021
The objective of this painting was to make a still life and incorporating the view of the outside world through a window.
Slide through to see the progress!
A preview of what my view from life looked like.
I like to start with a rough outline of all the objects in my painting.
I start the initial layers by rendering the midtones, and adding any strong shadows and/or highlights.
Started adding more detail to the window.
I added the background details while keeping in mind to continue to keep the front objects in focus.
Rendered the light bulb, plant stand and vase.
I further added the fairy lights within the light bulb, keeping light source in mind.
I added the details of the baby's breath and finalized the table.
All complete, the last thing I touched was the detail on the curtain (my fav part)!
